Emergency Response Diver 1
This program is designed to teach basic black water search and recovery operations for divers working with public safety dive teams. The program content is compliant with all OSHA 1910, NFPA 1670 and NFPA 1006 regulations pertaining to diving operations. Diver training will include: basic search patterns, hazard assessment, risk benefit analyses, equipment selection and deployment for emergency response diving. Additionally a general orientation to the following topics will be included: OSHA standards and the extreme limitations of the Rescue exemption policy for PSD, scene control, dealing with bystanders and the media. The dive operations are strongly oriented toward tethered diving operations with some minimal discussion of free swimming patterns and their applications/limitations. A very strong emphases is placed on rescue operations for team members who experience difficulties during a dive deployment and performing other safety diver activities
Emergency Response Diver 2
The ERD2 Diver Course is designed to teach divers to operate in more challenging conditions such as nighttime operations and operations in the 60 to 100 feet range of depth. Successful divers will show proficiency in the following skills: Use of full face mask and communications equipment, Scene assessment, Scene Diagramming, Scene setup, Scene safety supervision, Interviewing techniques, Diver assignment and accountability, Incident command and control. Divers will also learn the safety aspects of heavy lifting operations, night time operations and the considerations for operating in deeper water.
Emergency Response Diver Supervisor
The purpose of the ERD Supervisor course is to qualify the experienced emergency response diver to supervise ERD teams. It also serves as a base to develop leadership qualities and as a prerequisite to ERD Instructor Training.
Emergency Response Diver Tender
This course is designed to train surface support personnel
to safely and efficiently provide vital surface support and tender services
to the public safety dive team. This course is designed for non-divers.
Candidates will be exposed to general diving theory and safety issues, line
tending methods and practices, dive planning, decompression profiling, air
consumption calculations, dive equipment maintenance requirements, dive gear
set up and safety checks, dressing the diver, utilizing safety divers and
other surface support issues. All tenders candidates will do a very shallow
confined water experience and orientation to diving on SCUBA equipment.
